El director Christian Liffers se mete en una búsqueda de huellas en Cuba. En su equipaje tiene poemas y textos en prosa del autor cubano Reinaldo Arenas. Textos que describen el anhelo de amor, la inmensidad sexual y la postura orgullosa e inflexible de la lucha contra la discriminación. Se pueden encontrar todavía hoy en día estas posturas en Cuba? Y qué anhelos, clichés y proyecciones llevan al director y a muchos más a Cuba?
Poemas y textos en prosa del autor cubano Reinaldo Arenas son las coordenadas, los puntos de referencia para estos protagonistas y sus historias personales en la Cuba de hoy, que siempre están en el centro. Seis hombres de contextos diferentes y de clases y de edades distintas describen su vida, su sufrimiento, sus anhelos y sus alegrías en la Cuba actual. Tienen en común la homosexualidad (a excepción del transexual Ahmed) y la confrontación con la marginación de la sociedad machista cubana y del gobierno cubano. Pero se distinguen mucho en a la posición social y en como llevan el tema.

The producer Christian Liffers travels with his team to Cuba to search for evidence. Part of his luggage is poems and prose texts of the Cuban author Reinaldo Arenas. Texts, which describe the desire for love, sexual freedom and the proud and unbending attitude in the fight against discrimination. Are these desires and attitudes still to be found in Cuba? And which desires, clichés, and projections of Cuba attract the producer and many more people?
Poems and prose texts are the reference points for the protagonists and their personal stories of present-day Cuba, which are always the centre of attention. Six men with different backgrounds and of different ages describe their life, afflictions, desires, longings and joys in Cuba. They have some things in common: homosexuality (with the exception of Isabel, the transsexual) and the daily social exclusion on the part of the Cuban “Machismo-society” and the Cuban government. However they differ heavily concerning their social status and their opinions of the topic.
